Spain Prosecutes Catholic Cardinal For “Hate Crimes”

An interesting fact about this cardinal is hat he is the Archbishop of Valencia, which is the same place from which Archbishop St. Juan de Ribera directed and finally destroyed Islam in 1609 with the expulsion of the Moriscos. While the Spanish Reconquista ended in 1492, Islam still posed an existential threat within Spain, as many Muslims feigned conversion to the Faith when in reality they were still Muslim and working to undermine society. How interesting it is that nearly four centuries later the man who occupies the same seat as the man who once destroyed the Muslim heresy in Spain is now being prosecuted by the same society which his predecessor saved from the Muslims.
What is happening in Spain right now is a clear warning to the USA.  If Spain, a nation with a clear and distinct history of the Faith for many centuries is under severe attack right now from these same groups, then we in the USA are barely a few years away from being prosecuted for “criminal hate speech” for preaching Christian truth about homosexual behavior.

Spanish Government Prosecutes Major Catholic Cardinal For “Hate Crimes” For Preaching Against Islam And Homosexuality...

Fr. Antonio Cardinal Canizares is sometimes called “little Ratzinger.” As Archbishop of Valencia, he has been fearless in speaking out against the Islamic invasion of Europe, the LGBT attack on the family, and the evils of feminism. He even has the support of Pope Francis, who has encouraged him to ‘stay strong’ in his public stance.

But the homosexual groups, who always preach tolerance but never practice it, who hate Christianity, filed a criminal complaint against the Cardinal, and now the Spanish government is moving to formally press charges against him:

“The family is haunted today, in our culture, by an endless threat of serious difficulties, and this is not hidden from anyone,” Cañizares said in his May 13homily, pronounced on the eve of the International Day Against Lesbophobia, Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia, at a Mass celebrated in the chapel at the Catholic University of Valencia.
“We have legislation contrary to the family, the action of political and social forces, with added movements and actions of the gay empire, of ideas such as radical feminism, or the most insidious of all, gender theory,” he said.
A criminal complaint was filed on June 3 by the Lambda LGBT collective accusing the Cardinal of hate speech. Cañizares subsequently retracted his expression and offered an apology, if his words had “hurt or bothered anyone.”
In response, Lambda lashed out at the Cardinal, stating that his words are “full of hatred, homophobic and sexist, and only incite hatred against those who do not enter fit into the archaic models defended by the Catholic hierarchy.”
In an online statement, the Spanish Network of Help to Refugees said that Cañizares “is an ultra-conservative trying to subvert the constitutional order,” and accused him of nostalgia for “other times when immigrants, gays, lesbians, bisexuals, transsexuals and women were subjected to the dictates of a society governed by the powers of the Catholic Church.”
